• HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

You will need a referral to book an appointment at Smart Works Reading.

Your referral can come through a job centre, a support agency, a charity or community group, a housing association or your place of worship.

Please ask them to contact Smart Works Reading on 0118 959 4245 or email reading@smartworks.org.uk so that we can support you.

  • CAN I REFER MYSELF FOR SUPPORT FROM SMART WORKS READING?

No, but if you don’t know who can refer you, please call us on 0118 959 4245 or email reading@smartworks.org.uk and we will advise you on who can help.

  • DO I NEED A CONFIRMED JOB INTERVIEW TO GET AN APPOINTMENT?

You need a confirmed job interview for our interview dressing and coaching service.

However, if you are not at the interview stage yet we can still support you with an hour’s free coaching to help you in your job search. This service is called career coaching and is also free.

  • IS SMART WORKS READING CURRENTLY OPEN FOR NORMAL SERVICE?

Smart Works Reading is still supporting clients through the pandemic.  If you are unable to visit our centre, you can meet with our volunteers online and we will send a clothing package direct to your home.

  • ARE YOU STILL ABLE TO ACCEPT CLOTHING DONATIONS?

Please call us on 0118 959 4245 or email Reading@smartworks.org.uk to talk to us about your clothing donation.

  • IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE ONSITE?

Unfortunately not, however there is a public car park at Saxon Court – entrance on Church Street, Reading, RG1 2SB. The tariff is £1 per hour.

  • CAN I BRING MY CHILD OR FRIEND WITH ME TO MY APPOINTMENT?

Ideally, we want you to come to Smart Works Reading alone – this is your time and we want to focus solely on you.  However, we do recognise that childcare arrangements can be tricky so we are happy for you to bring children if social distancing allows, but please let us know before your visit.

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET THE JOB?

If you are successful in getting the job once you have seen us, you can book your Second Dressing appointment, where we will give you a small capsule wardrobe to help you with workwear for those first few weeks in your new role. These clothes are all high-quality, and are yours to keep.

We also offer a short session with our interview coach to go through what you might expect in your new job.

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT GET THE JOB?

If you are unsuccessful in getting the job once you have seen us, you can book your follow up interview coaching session, where the interview coach will spend an hour with you talking through the interview process and giving additional interview tips.

  • DO YOU HAVE A SERVICE FOR MEN?

We only see those who identify as women.

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, don’t worry, just give the team a call on 0118 959 4245 and we will do our best to assist.
